The Edmonton Radio Control Society (ERCS) was formed in 1959 with the goal of providing safe and enjoyable flying facilities for the sport of flying radio controlled aircraft. Whether you are into nitro, gas, electric, or turbines, you will find pilots that share your interest. The club offers ground school and in-flight training for new pilots at no cost to its members. Our flying field is located just a few minutes east of Edmonton in Strathcona County. See aerial view of the field.

2018 Pylon Race
A R/C racing event featuring Q500 and Q40 racing classes was held at the ERCS field on June 23-24, 2018. The weather cooperated and they were able to complete a full 8 rounds of racing each day.
The organizers of the event would like to thank all the ERCS club members, friends, and family that came out to help and be part of the event and also everyone who helped groom the field for everyone to enjoy.
ERCS member Scott McLean posted some pictures and video of a mid-air collision and Paul Gibeault's control line racing demonstration over on our Facebook group.
The top pilots of the weekend were:

A few pictures are posted in the Photo Gallery 2018 Spring Combat.
ERCS Weather Station
For those who have eagerly awaited the weather station coming back on line it is now up and running. Wind, direction and temperature, it's all there. The reason the rainfall charts are flat lines is that we don't have a rain guage.
The weather station reports the wind velocity in m/s. To convert to km/hr, multiply the m/s X 3.6. For example: 10m/s = 36km/hr. so 5m/s would normally be a safe maximum wind velocity for flying most planes.
Thanks Peter Carey and Rijish Augistine from the UofA aerial robotics club for getting the weather station back up and running.
Spring Work Bee
Thanks to everyone who came out to help clean up the field and install the new benches. The benches are a nice addition!
