The Edmonton Radio Control Society (ERCS) was formed in 1959 with the goal of providing safe and enjoyable flying facilities for the sport of flying radio controlled aircraft. Whether you are into nitro, gas, electric, or turbines, you will find pilots that share your interest. The club offers ground school and in-flight training for new pilots at no cost to its members. Our flying field is located just a few minutes east of Edmonton in Strathcona County. See aerial view of the field.

2018 Spring Combat
On June 16th, six pilots battled it out in the annual spring combat event at Bremner Field. Thanks to Dave Nordlund for organizing the event and also everyone else who came out to help. The final results are:
A few pictures are posted in the Photo Gallery 2018 Spring Combat.
ERCS Weather Station
For those who have eagerly awaited the weather station coming back on line it is now up and running. Wind, direction and temperature, it's all there. The reason the rainfall charts are flat lines is that we don't have a rain guage.
The weather station reports the wind velocity in m/s. To convert to km/hr, multiply the m/s X 3.6. For example: 10m/s = 36km/hr. so 5m/s would normally be a safe maximum wind velocity for flying most planes.
Thanks Peter Carey and Rijish Augistine from the UofA aerial robotics club for getting the weather station back up and running.
Spring Work Bee
Thanks to everyone who came out to help clean up the field and install the new benches. The benches are a nice addition!
Spring is Here!
Ed Mason was out at the field this weekend and captured some photographs of our club members aircraft in flight. View Photos Then grab a plane and a buddy and head out to the field to enjoy this beautiful spring weather!
We are shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden passing of ERCS member Al Schmidt from a heart attack on Monday, April 30. Al was 75 years of age.
There will be a celebration of Al’s life on Friday, May 11, 2 pm at the Sturgeon Golf Club, 25114 Sturgeon Road, Sturgeon County. It would be appreciated if as many members as possible could relate a story regarding your experiences with Al.
