E.R.C.S Electric Fun-Fly 2007
On Saturday September 8 th, E.R.C.S held it’s second annual electric fun-fly. I want to first start out by publicly giving a big-big thanks to Glen Willard for all his help, I could not have pulled the event off without it. I also want to thank Glen for taking some really great photos using my digital camera, but unfortunately (me playing around with camera doing stupid things) lost the pics. There were some great photos of people having fun, and that’s what this event is all about. It was a better turnout than last year with 17 registered pilots and over 40 aircraft of all types. The weather went from bad to worse as the day progressed, and ended short with rain. The winds were high, but again people came and had a good time. There were gliders, planes, jets, and even a UAV. One jet of note is Dave Corscadden’s CF-5 x 2 freedom fighter. It’s big-fast-and looks totally cool in the air and on the ground-nice work Dave (you can add a pic or two since --- well you know what I mentioned earlier). Paul & Chris Salvian from S.A.A.M.S had a fleet of jets, a Vulcan (not of the StarTrek variety), Avro Arrow, and an F-117, to name a few, and all flew well, and if memory serves me the Vulcan utilised a bungy launch. Dom Bernal showed up with a Hobbico Nextsar electric conversion that was powered by lithium-ion packs used in power tools, plus a homemade C’nC motor mount, and flew extremely well – nice work Dom. The many electric powered gliders flown by: Bill Gillespie, Bob Whonitoy, Pat Savage, Jan Krammer, Dom Bernal all showed how capable they can really be. And Don Furminger with his Superliner, and Predator (UAV – said to have no spy stuff onboard, but I bet he was secretly taking telemetry of the field wile on sorties) were a welcome site. All in all an excellent turnout, and of course with out the support from Great hobbies, Sunrise RC, and Hobby Wholesale this event would not happen, thanks again for your contributions. Thanks again, and I hope to see you all next year.
