The Edmonton Radio Control Society (ERCS) was formed in 1959 with the goal of providing safe and enjoyable flying facilities for the sport of flying radio controlled aircraft. Whether you are into nitro, gas, electric, or turbines, you will find pilots that share your interest. The club offers ground school and in-flight training for new pilots at no cost to its members. Our flying field is located just a few minutes east of Edmonton in Strathcona County. See aerial view of the field.

Field Status
Members, monitor your email for the latest field status updates. With the field opening and closing so much lately due to the flooding issue that's the best way to know whether the field is open or not.
Field is now open
Members,
The pumping of the road is now complete and the road is now passable so the field is now open. When you arrive you will notice that all of the chairs, picnic tables, start-up stations, and white tables are put away and are NOT AVAILABLE for use. Please bring your own chairs and tables. Please ensure that you take them home with and do not leave them at the field.
We also want to remind you to follow the Provincial COVID guidelines and in particular the six foot distancing, masks if you can't maintain six feet, and hand sanitation (you need to provide yourself).
"Members Only" no guests until further notice.
All camping is postponed until further notice.
Remember everyone's safety is everyone's responsibility.
Thanks for your patience as we work through everything.
Happy Flying!

Message from the ERCS Executive
The ERCS executive is asking for everyone's patience while arrangements are being made to open the field again. The situation is complex and we want to make sure everyone will be safe to fly and that the road into the field is not damaged beyond our means of repairing it. Please know that we are working hard to get the field open as soon as possible. An email with more details will be sent to members soon.

Covid 19 Update
To all members:
At a special executive meeting last night deal with the field closure due to the Covid 19 virus the following decision was made.
Because we are on County of Strathcona land and we have a License to Operate with them we must follow their direction on closures. Their direction is that all recreation facilities and fields are closed as per the Order from the Chief Medical Officer of Health for the Province of Alberta. Not following the County’s guidelines would put our License to Operate in jeopardy.
Having said all of that we are in constant contact with the County and as soon as they open their recreational facilities and fields we will be able to open ours.
We also know that some of you have paid your fees and are not able to fly. If this continues the board is prepared to deal with the lost of flying time and will announce measures when it becomes apparent that we will not be able to fly this summer.
Please be patient during this crisis and remain safe and healthy.
Respectfully,
ERCS Executive
ERCS Facilities Closed
Recognizing that COVID-19 represents an unpredictable and potential hazard to our members and guests, the Edmonton Radio Control Society Executive has made the decision to close the Air Field and our Facility until further notice. We will monitor the situation and when the Province announces that it is safe for group activity again we will open the field and facility.
Stay Safe, Stay Healthy and we will see you when things are better
Thank you,
ERCS Executive
