** EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO POOR WEATHER **
Come out and join in the racing action as a pilot, helper, or spectator. During a pylon race, three aircraft fly against each other in a fast paced ten lap race where pilots battle to cross the finish line first without cutting inside any of the three pylon poles. The aircraft speeds vary depending on the race class. On Saturday, the Q500 class will be flown and the speeds are in the 140 MPH range. On Sunday, the Q40 class is flown with aircraft that can reach up to 200 MPH.
Rules for the event will follow those set out by the Canadian Prairie Pylon Racing Association which place limits on engines and airframes. Safety is of utmost importance and the guidelines set out by MAAC will be strictly adhered to.
RC-TV produced a pylon racing video on-location at a race in Calgary. Check it out to learn more about pylon racing.
