The Edmonton Radio Control Society (ERCS) was formed in 1959 with the goal of providing safe and enjoyable flying facilities for the sport of flying radio controlled aircraft. Whether you are into nitro, gas, or electric, you will find pilots that share your interest. The club offers ground school and in-flight training for new pilots at no cost to its members. Our flying field is located just a few minutes east of Edmonton in Strathcona County.

Geocaching Outreach Event
ERCS hosted 33 Geocachers and 6 Members (2 are both Geocachers and Members) at Bremner Field on January 5th as part of our Outreach program. The guests cooked hotdogs over the fire and warmed themselves both at the fire and in the clubhouse. All had a great time and many favorable comments on the Geocaching page about our facility and sport. Many expressed an interest in coming back in the summer to ‘watch the planes fly’. All in all a great time.
Many thanks to members Muryl Marler, Dave Nordlund, Peter Cary, Bob Plaunt, Doug Edgar, and Terry Wilcox for helping out at the event. A special thanks to Shelley Brunner for manning the refreshments and keeping everyone’s cup full!!
There are a few pics on the Geocaching page (GC81FKH) of the Event at the field yesterday.
Jim Sushetski - Member of the Year
Congratulations to Jim Sushetski (left) who was awarded Member of the Year during the November general meeting. Jim was presented the award by ERCS president Muryl Marler (right).
Winter is coming...
Some autumn pictures taken at Bremner field are trickling in. Here is ERCS member Danny Ng with his electric aircraft. The fuselage is a beer cooler with a road pylon nose cone and the wing is constructed from coroplast. It is powered by six Phantom 4 quadcopter motors flashed for airplane use. It is reported that is flys well and sounds really cool!
2018 R/C Auction
Baturyn Community Hall was very busy during the annual ERCS R/C auction held on October 27th, 2018. There were a large number of items sold and a lot of people in attendance; thank you to everyone who attended! An event like this takes a lot of effort to organize and run. Next time you see Rick Z, the guys at the auction block or check in/out table, the guys who tirelessly ran items up to the auction block or the back room, Brad L. for spending a lot of late evenings developing the auction software, the ladies selling concession items, Hobby Wholesale for letting us use their debit/credit machine, or anyone else who set up or tear down the equipment, give them a nice thank you!
Ed Mason is Back!
Ed Mason has been unable to take pictures at our field for many months but he's now well enough to come visit us at Bremner field again. He submitted a few pictures taken a few days ago; check them out in the photo gallery. Welcome back Ed!
